How to pass the DELE A2 in 30 days
Thirty days is enough if you spend the time well. This plan assumes 1 hour a day of focused study. If you can do two, even better. If you already have a solid A1, this pace gets you to A2.
Before you start
- Register for an exam date. Having a real deadline is the best motivator.
- Take a full mock exam on day 1 — yes, before studying. It's your baseline.
- Buy a notebook. Writing by hand fixes vocabulary better than typing.
Week 1 — Reading and core vocabulary
- Days 1–2: Reading Task 1 (long text + 5 questions). Mark every word you don't know. Write each one down with a translation.
- Days 3–4: Task 2 (8 short notices). Practice scanning for specific information. Don't read the whole notice — find what the question asks.
- Days 5–6: Tasks 3 and 4. Task 3 asks which of three texts contains a piece of information. Task 4 is another long text.
- Day 7: rest or vocabulary review.
Week 2 — Listening
This is where many learners stall. The key is daily listening, even if brief.
- Days 8–9: Task 1 (short conversations with images). Listen twice in a row before checking the transcript.
- Days 10–11: Task 2 (single-speaker messages). Harder because there's no visual cue.
- Day 12: Task 3 (long monologue). Take notes by hand while listening.
- Days 13–14: Task 4 (matching announcements). Read the 11 statements first and predict.
Week 3 — Writing
Both writing tasks are highly predictable. Practice the format and memorize phrases.
- Task 1: reply to a message, 60–70 words. Memorize greeting and sign-off phrases.
- Task 2: write an email or note, 70–80 words. Memorize structures: introducing yourself, asking for info, thanking.
- Always count your words. Below the limit you lose marks; above it your quality drops.
- Rewrite each piece two or three times. The second version is always better.
Week 4 — Speaking + simulations
- Days 22–24: prepare typical Task 1 topics: "your best friend", "a memorable trip", "your home", "your daily routine", "your last vacation".
- Days 25–26: Task 2, photo description. Learn vocabulary for places (market, park, restaurant, office).
- Days 27–28: Task 3, conversation. Practice ordering ("I'd like a coffee, please"), asking for prices, making bookings.
- Days 29–30: two timed full mock exams. Don't study the day before — rest.
Five mistakes to avoid
- Studying only grammar. The exam tests comprehension and communication, not fill-in-the-blank.
- Not practicing listening from day 1. It's the slowest skill to build.
- Going over the word count. 80 words means 80, not 120.
- Skipping the timed mock. Time pressure is part of the exam.
- Avoiding the speaking section. It's worth 25% of your grade.
